Grumbling, pentagrams, and the Love of Jesus

Prayer is powerful!
At the close of the prayer training meeting at Ed and Linda Haussermann's, the children listened for a word from the Lord and prayed for people. It was awesome! I cried.
Afterward, little Meghan Conant asked me if she could leave with us. I told her, "No, we are going to Adopt-A-Block. Maybe another time."
ACK! I was immediately convicted. I just saw the power of God moving through this little girl. I had been praying for workers, and here she was -- a gift from heaven wrapped in a tiny package with ribbons and bows, and filled with the power of God.
"Let's go practice what we just learned," I said.
Strike while the iron is hot!
On the drive over, the Conant girls told me they had a plan while living in
Beka, Meghan, my daughter Hannah, and I knocked on doors. Our most powerful witnessing opportunities occur when the residents allow us to pray for them.
One man with a pentagram dangling from his neck bowed his head and closed his eyes as we prayed. And God spoke to him.
But if all prophesy,
and an unbeliever or an ungifted man enters,
he is convicted by all, he is called to account by all;
the secrets of his heart are disclosed;
and so he will fall on his face and worship God,
declaring that God is certainly among you.
1 Corinthians 14:24-25
God was certainly among us! Two other men we prayed for were so touched, they started crying.
How awesome to stand in these doorways, lifting up the name of Jesus on behalf of these residents!
There is another man with severe physical ailments. He is a pretty rough fellow, cutting us off week after week with his disinterest. This day, the girls and I knocked and simply stated, "We came here to pray for you."
"Well, I'm not letting you in," he grumbled.
But, he did step out for us to pray for him. Beka and I both prayed. Beka's prayer was sweet enough to soften stones. And it did.
The next week, Ryan knocked on this man's door and he came out and talked with Ryan for a very long time.
The week after that, this rough and tumble man was a complete softy. He told Ryan it meant a lot to him that we came out every Saturday. He confessed some struggles to Ryan and asked him to pray. Then, he said, "I need to get a Bible."
Ryan gave him his personal, favorite Bible. Any of us with a favorite Bible know what a huge love offering that was!
There are so many more testimonies of God's grace covering that block. Thank you for all the prayer support. Prayer is powerful!
And we hope to see you there. We meet every Saturday @ 10:30am in the GVCF parking lot. The only requirement is LOVE.
"Peace be with you;
as the Father has sent Me,
I also send you."
